Congratulations to Rina Gonzalez, Northern California Writing Project, and Bissa Zamboldi, Bay Area Writing Project, for being honored by the Carlston Family Foundation with the 2006 Outstanding Teachers of America Award.
The Carlston Family Foundation honors teachers who "have worked tirelessly and creatively to give California¹s high school students the opportunity to achieve academically and, ultimately, professionally.... Former students,
who attributed much of their success to these extraordinary mentors, identified the nominees. Many of the students came from difficult circumstances and had few of the advantages that frequently lead to academic
success. It was the effort of these high school teachers, who believed in their potential, which made the difference."
To learn more about these teachers, read the press release for each here:
Rina Gonzalez, English teacher, Hamilton Union High School, Hamilton City, CA
Bissa Zamboldi, English teacher, Lowell High School, San Francisco Unified, CA
