Congratulations to two of CWP's finest for being selected as two of the five California Teachers of the Year for 2005:
- Kim Labinger of Los Angeles teaches fourth grade at Thomas A. Edison Elementary School in the city of Glendale, Los Angeles County.
- Eric Burrows of Solvang teaches Advanced Placement, U.S., and European history at San Marcos High School in the city of Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara County.

Area Writing Project, who was named Educator of the Year by the California

Congratulations to Sheridan Blau, Director of the South Coast Writing Project at UC Santa Barbara, who received the Richard A. Meade Award from the National Council of Teachers of English for his book, The Literature Workshop: Teaching Texts and Their Readers (Heinemann, 2003). The Meade Award honors published research that investigates English/language arts teacher development.

(NACADA) has selected Peter Kittle, the
2004-2005 Outstanding Advisor for California
State University, Chico, as an Outstanding
Advising Certificate of Merit recipient.
Peter is the Co-Director of the Northern
California Writing Project.
NACADA's National Awards Program for Academic
Advising honors individuals and institutions
making significant contributions to the
improvement of academic advising. Award
recipients will be presented with their
awards at a reception in Las Vegas in October
2005.

Reading, Writing & Rings!
Over the past two years, TC's Linda Block and Alexa Stuart and Bay Area Writing Project Director, Carol Tateishi, helped develop K-4 teaching materials with NASA partners, focused on reading, writing and science - in this instance, NASA's Cassini Mission to Saturn.
